Dear Friends,
It has been an exciting spring for GrandinArt! After the 45-foot mural was unveiled in the town of Tisbury, Vineyard Haven on Martha's Vineyard, I traveled to Sausalito, California to see my new gallery, Gallery 599. This gallery looks out across San Francisco Bay to San Francisco in the distance. A gorgeous spot! Please see the photograph of the paintings hanging in the gallery below. For more information click the pictures in the articles.
California
Sonoma Valley

We then traveled to Sonoma Valley in California to look at the Twomey Winery. The landscape there is beautiful with undulating forms and hills the vines make a patchwork quilt like effect. The architect of this winery, Jacques Ullman, has done a magnificent job Painting in Gallery 599, Californiacapturing the rhythms of the surrounding area in the buildings. I am considering doing a new series on wineries in hopes that some of them might consider having art on their walls.

Uganda
Beacon of Hope College

In June, I am off to Uganda! I have packed canvas, brushes, pencils, containers, aprons, erasers, paints in quart containers and tape for the 18-foot mural that will be done in Uganda with students of the Beacon of Hope College. I am even bringing an electric keyboard, which I will leave there so we can have some "musical jam sessions"!

The Ugandan mural will be an exciting project  for the students who will have the opportunity to paint about their life experiences. These young people in the boarding school have gone through so much with tribal wars and horrible conditions that to help them open up and talk about their life might be a healing experience. Already members of the Church of The Redeemer parish have written messages to the students at the Beacon of Hope College on the canvas of the mural. When the canvas is opened in Uganda there will photos of members of the Redeemer parish and notes from them.

It is a terrific gallery with contemporary work from many island artists as well as paintings, sculptures and drawings from international artists.
